With wit and enthusiasm, Bontis captivated and enlightened the ALFA General Session audience with his ability to cleverly disguise critical business content with an entertaining delivery. His enlightening and action-packed presentation covered coping with information bombardment, rapid growth and demand, speeding up innovation through collaboration, and achieving industry leading competitiveness.
Nick Bontis cleverly captivated the audience with the dichotomy of “learning and unlearning”, claiming that both are equally significant to the growth potential of a company. “Embrace the power of RE… REnew, REtool, REcertify, REsupply…or REtire”. Change is essential.
Bontis discussed how accelerated information bombardment and rapid growth are real threats to our individual and organizational productivity. Empty emails and messages are abused often, because the cost of clicking on the computer is free. Maintaining and increasing productivity is a far larger feat. In the knowledge era of today, intellectual capitol must be acquired, retained, and transferred intelligently. Bontis discussed solutions and ways to create a sustainable competitive advantage, by “codifying tasset expertise” to deliver content of substance among an organization and to its clients and customers.
Highlights of the session included Exhibit A, Jerry, an audience member who proved that working and training your brain is just as important as working out your body. The goal to reach productivity is to “work smarter not harder”.
Nick Bontis declared that the most valuable, scarcest resource is not time itself, it is our attention span. This presentation was excellent, exciting, and very eye opening. The speaker was entertaining and his humor and ability to reach the audience at many levels was exciting to watch. I am glad I came.

Professor Nick Bontis was one of the best speakers I have ever heard! I wish I had professors like him when I was in university.
He was educational, action-oriented, entertaining and funny. Plus, he left us each with 5 specific action items to complete when we get back to work on Friday.
His presentation alone was worth my registration fee.

Hi All,
Dr. Brontis’ presentation at ALFA was perhaps the best key note address that I have ever heard.
His excitement, knowledge and perspective spoke loudly and it left an indelible impression on me.
When he said that his child’s first word was “Blackberry”, though at once hilarious but how profound a message. How much time do you spend online?
I was shocked to learn that Scandinavian countries have the highest internet penetration
rate in the world, and the reason? Those countries have a 100% literacy rate.
Nice job, Dr. Brontis. Your message is timely and it is a wakeup call to everyone. The world is moving fast and change is the only constant.
